The Carbon Smart India Fellowship is a flagship initiative by The Social Purpose Trust, designed to equip a new generation of youth leaders to champion solar energy adoption and carbon offsetting at the grassroots level. This one-year, field-based, purpose-driven program bridges climate action with community engagement — combining technical training, social impact, and leadership development.
Fellows will play a critical role in promoting clean energy, conducting field outreach, and driving afforestation efforts to offset the carbon footprint of solar installations. The program offers structured mentorship, a performance-based stipend, and hands-on experience in the green economy.

About THE FELLOWSHIP
KEY OBJECTIVES
Facilitate Decentralized Solar Adoption at household and community levels.
Cultivate Youth Climate Leaders with skills in solar technology, ethical sales, and sustainability
Offset Embedded Carbon Emissions through geo-tagged, community-based tree plantation drives
Generate Climate Impact Data and human-centered stories for advocacy and knowledge building
FELLOWSHIP STRUCTURE
Foundation & Inner Leadership (Month 1)
Duration: 12 Months (Full-Time, Field-Based)
Location: Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh (First 3 months residential, accommodation provided)
Stipends & benefits worth ₹1.8 Lacs
Field Immersion & Action-Based Learning (Months 2–3)
Ownership, Innovation & Collective Impact (Months 4–12)
Fellows move from theory to action.
Conduct Solar Sabhas, Samvads, and door-to-door outreach.
Apply listening and facilitation skills to mobilize community interest.
Participate in weekly reflection circles and peer coaching to process experiences and refine strategies
Program Phases:
Fellows begin with an immersive month focused on building the inner compass of a changemaker.
Leadership Labs
Guided sessions to build self-awareness, resilience, and emotional intelligence
Sustainability 101
In-depth learning on climate science, carbon emissions, and solar energy solutions
Self-Reflection Modules
Tools and practices to understand personal purpose, limiting beliefs, and growth areas
Community Immersion
Early field exposure to connect with people, perspectives, and local realities
This phase deepens both leadership ownership and impact delivery.
Fellows take charge of field territories and lead localized climate campaigns.
Run mini-projects to test ideas around solar adoption and awareness.
Receive monthly mentoring and engage in thematic workshops (e.g., behavioral change, social enterprise, fundraising)
Design personal impact blueprints and Explore models for sustainable livelihoods and social enterprises.
Receive tailored guidance on post-fellowship opportunities in climate action and green jobs
CORE INITIATIVES
Solar Adoption Campaign
Fellows engage directly with communities through public meetings and outreach efforts to promote the adoption of solar energy systems. Emphasis is placed on trust-building, technical literacy, and long-term support.
OffseTree Program
Each solar installation is audited for its embedded carbon. Fellows work with local stakeholders to plant native trees that offset this carbon. Every plantation is geo-tagged, vlogged, and monitored for survival, ensuring measurable climate impact.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
We’re looking for motivated individuals (ages 18–30) passionate about climate action, community service, and sustainable development. Prior experience in fieldwork, sales, or renewable energy is appreciated but not mandatory. What matters most is your commitment to making a difference.
